Admissions

Garderie les Diamants de Somerled is open to everyone. We are a multicultural daycare that truly reflects the population of our neighborhood being that we are a Montreal daycare. All are welcome, and there are no restrictions or admissions criteria. It would be important to note that we are not a drop off service (halte garderie) and children must be registered in order to attend. However, we do offer part time options: three or four day weeks instead of a full time five day week.

Educational Staff:
The staff at Garderie les Diamants de Somerled consists of a director and twelve educators. Our educators come from a variety of cultural backgrounds, which offers the children the opportunity and benefit of learning about many different cultures. All our educators are highly qualified, with variety of experiences. They apply their vast knowledge of childcare and range of interests to their planning and to the care of your children.

Through their skills and expertise, the educational staff guide children’s games and activities. They support the children and encourage them throughout the day in the games that children frequently engage in, as they imagine new games, in educator guided and free play activities and in developing independence and becoming self-sufficient. They unobtrusively guide what children learn from a situation that they themselves create. Through observation, educators collect and record information to support your children’s activities and development.

As well as supporting your children, the educational staff is also there to support the parents and families of children in our care. We are always available to discuss any concerns you may have, to provide you with any information that we can and to be there for your family through any situation. Issues such as divorce, death in the family, or a new baby being born can have an affect on your child and we are always there to support your family as a whole.

The educational staff is completely supportive of one another. The experience levels of the staff range from twenty years to newly qualified educators. The staff is always working together to offer each other a helping hand and share new theories and approaches. This is an asset that our treasured children are benefitting from daily. The experiences and wide range of knowledge give tools to each educator dealing with scenarios for the first time. We learn a lot from each other, both informally during class time, or more formally in scheduled team meetings. Part of being an early childhood educator is constantly learning and evolving. As such, we learn as much from your children as they do from us.
